Automatically refresh data from external sources

    Hi All,

1st post on Excel Forum! I have a workbook that upon opening, runs a macro that takes data and creates a CSV file that can be displayed as scrolling text on a user's screen. What I'm having a problem with is that I'm receiving data from SQL through a query but this data doesn't update when I open the document. Under the data tab, I've checked existing connections and on properties ticked the 'Refresh data when opening the file' and tried saving a password under the Definition tab of the Connection Properties but when I save the file and go back in, these tick boxes are once again unticked. I've tried adding the password explicitly in the Connection String box, that also doesn't work. I've checked Trust centre settings but I don't think I've missed anything. Anyone got an idea what I can check?

    Thanks!

    J
