    Percentages

    Hello

Newbie here looking for some help if possible please.

Im trying to add 4.8% to a cell and not sure how to go about this.

I have say £182.40 in cell A and want to add the 4.8% onto this and have it in the cell below.

    So then £191.15

Then in the next cell I want to add on 4.8% to that as well so it ends up a running total.

I hope I am explaining myself properly here.

    Example

    Year 1 £182.40
    Year 2 the above figure + 4.8%
    Year 3 the above figure + 4.8%

and so on and so on

I have never used excel before using formulas.

I would really appreciate any help anyone could give me please as I am also trying to do the above using 9% as well.

    Many Thanks

Hi jenny0594 and welcome to the forum

    A1=182.40

Then the formula to sum a 4.8% of a1, is:

    =(A1+(A1*4,8%))

    Hope to helps you
    Regards

    Fotis.

Assuming the year one information is in cell A2, to allow for column headers, you might try something like this:

=A2+(A2*.048) in cell A3. Then copy it down as far as you need. The reference to cell A2 will automatically increase.

Hello Fotis thank you for the welcome and your quick reply.

I have tried this forumla but keep getting error.

Am I supposed to be typing this formula into B4 as this is where I want the total to go?

I have obviously changed the A1 I told you to B3 as this is where the £182.40 is

Sorry If this sounds like a really stupid question.

Thank you both so much. This has worked perfectly.

I spent all day trying to do this and couldnt come up with it from the help pages on excel.

I then decided just to do the calculations manually to then get my colleague to check my figures to find out they were all wrong. Grrrrrr

Excel is a fab program if you know how to work it.

I am going to do some reading to see what else I can learn.

    Thanks again :-)
