    Unhappy Macros Suddenly Slow

I noticed a couple of days ago that several Excel macros in different spreadsheets suddenly run much slower (10 or more times as long to run). Probably all of my macros are doing this but some are just too fast to notice. I've tried switching to manual calculations, rebooting, and turning off screen updates. I also read something about print or print preview related items in a macro can slow it down but I have none of that.

I'm using Excel 2010 and Windows 7. Is there some setting that may have toggled or something else in Excel that might have caused this (or maybe it's something unrelated to Excel)?

Are you working with more data then normal? Post a workbook that you think is running slower then usual and I'll look at it.

It might be an issue with your computer. (Maybe a virus or malware?) Or are you running other programs at the same time that you didn't used to run?

    Re: Macros Suddenly Slow

The spreadsheets have too much confidential information on them so I can't attach. However I think I may have stumbled onto the problem. I recently used the camera tool to overlay information onto charts (even though the charts are not on tabs that get interrogated by the macros in question). If I delete the overlayed camera "shapshot", the macro speed appears to be back to normal. Does this make sense as the cause?

Apparently Excels camera tool uses a lot of memory which does make sense. Pictures are big and will do that.

If you need the camera tool I would suggest using it in a separate macro. So have 1 macro do whatever and a 2nd macro use the camera tool.
