    Reset drop down box

    Hi,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. So hello!

I need some help and to be honest, this will probably be the first of many questions to come.
I have quite a good knowledge of Excel for someone with no proffesional training but some of my questions may still sound basic.

    My current question is this:
How do i get a macro to record to take an installed drop down box to its top position?

I am recording a simple macro that erases all data so that the screen has gone "back to original". For some reason it doesnt affect the drop down box though even though i have used the mouse to select the top most value during the recording process.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the Forum.!!!

I am sure you will get the answers to all your questions here, so you are at the right place !!!

Please change your title (A quick visit to the Forum Rules page will surely help).
Also, how did you insert the drop down into your excel sheet? Using the VBA toolbox or data validation?

    Done, thanks for the advice.

I put the drop down box in by using the "Combo Box (Form Control)" in Excel 2007 and used the format option to select the data i wanted shown in it.

    Hope this makes sense?

Re: Macro help needed to reset drop down box

Is there a specific reason why you are using the form control? If you use the dropdown available in the Data - > Validation option, you can just put a code as below -

assuming that your dropdown is in A1.

Since reading your post i have been trying to do just that but there does not seem to be a "Settings" option to create a drop down list. The only options i have are "Settings, Input Message and Error Alert".

The reason i was using the form control option was because that was the only way i knew to create a drop down box. I am happy to try new things though!
