formatting cells in a column by formula or macros

Dear all,

I have a question about a case in excel.

I am doing a research with the following information. In column A, I have the name of the buyer company, column B cells that contain numbers marked in yellow,blue or green depending on certain characteristics. I would like to mark the companies in column A in different colors (or some other recognizable way) as described below.

Materials Inc green
Materials Inc blue
Rayon Inc green
Rayon Inc green
Rayon Inc green
Commun Corp yellow
Commun Corp yellow
Commun Corp yellow
Commun Corp blue
Commun Corp yellow

I would like to mark the companies in column A in different colors according to the following criteria:
orange: if there are only yellow cells in column B opposite the specific company in column A
red: if there are only blue cells in column B opposite the specific company in column A
pink: if there are only green cells in column B opposite the specific company in column A
brown: if there are yellow, blue and green cells in column B opposite the specific company in column A
grey: if there are yellow of blue cells in column B opposite the specific company in column A

Do you know a suitable function in excel or Macros that can help with the formatting, because I have tens of thousands of companies and it will take too much time to do it manually.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
