    Finding and process multiple values

    Hi,

And again, I need your help.

I have to get to work something in Excel and I don’t know how to do it.
    That’s what I have:
A list with names and data:

    Date Name Value
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
    08/09/2011 Mike 144
    08/09/2011 Peter 115
    08/09/2011 Hans 266
    09/09/2011 Mike 456
    08/09/2011 Tania 456
    09/09/2011 Peter 234
    …and so on

It will be a long list and each name will possibly appear once a day.

    What I need:

I want to choose the name from a drop down list where all names are listed. I need to choose also a date range.
Than it should look up the values for the requested time and name and calculate the average of the value.

I already worked with vlookup but in this case I have to find multiple entries and calculate afterwards and I don’t know how to go ahead.

Thanks a lot for your advice!

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

Also, is this date range a single date or "date - date"?
