i need to update one master file when different files are updated

i have one master database which has a number of sheets.But each department is given its own sheet which he can update.I want that whenver he updates his sheet and say clicks on a button,the sheet relevant to that in the master data gets updated without being opened.The master data is on a shared drive on every computer say L drive and each department has its own sheet

now my task is to create a link between making and the main database's making sheet
