    Stacked bar - text data

    Hello All,

    Looking for ideas / inspiration...

I want to create a rough (non accurate) stacked bar to replicate soils in a depth borehole.

My spreadsheet has cumulative depth in column A and distance across site in row1 (for additional boreholes).

I have populated the columns with text depicting what is at each depth measurement.
    Example of column B:
    0m: soil
    1m: soil
    2m: soil
    3m: peat
    4m: clay
    5m: clay
    6m: silt
    7m: rock
    8m: rock
    9m: rock

Excel tries to draw everything as percentages (numerical) whereas I want each cell to be an identical proportion of the bar...

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can replicate this using text data - or even ways to convert the text to numerical values to give the same result?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Damien

    Resolved:

FYI: Sorted this one out myself :-)
I created a column of all soil types across the depths then assigned count values of the cells they covered. This created the depth split into the different soil bands.
