VB programming query - cell content interrogation

hi

i need to create an excel macro that checks the contents of an entire column in sheet 1 against the specific contents of a reference cell in sheet 2 and if it finds any word entries that are the same then code an adjacent cell in a second column on sheet 1 with a particular reference taken from a cell on sheet 2. this needs to repeated for multiple reference cells with different content in each.

i.e..on the attached example query1. if a2:a910 sheet 1 contains any of the entries in c1 sheet 2 then enter the contents of a2 sheet 2 into cell b2 sheet 1.

any help would be appreciated.

If you're asking how I would code it, I'm afraid I have no idea. I can't actually see any relationship between the defects and the Task Descriptions.

I think you'll need to provide a number of examples of what you would expect to be returned and why. For example, task code xxnnnn returned because defect has word "aaaa" and matches the same word in task description in cell "xx" on sheet 2
