conditional disabling cells in excel?

Hows it going
i have a project i am trying to finish before monday and was wondering if anyone could lend a helping hand

I want the option to grey out and disable some cells based on another cells value eg. if cell value equal "Yes" certain cells are greyd out and disabled

now im pretty good at excel for sme one who is self taught but i have no idea how i would do this. i did some research and it looks like i may have to use a macro or some coding but ive never used it in excel before. and not sure where to start

i was wondering if anyone could help me out. i could upload file if you want

You can use Conditional Formatting to set the cell font or fill color.
Use the Formula option and this formula: =A1="Yes"

To lock the cell, use Data Validation, custom option and this formula:
=A1<>"Yes"
