    Locked Worksheet Tab

Hi guys, what i want to do is lock a worksheet tab so you would need to enter a password to view it.

basically at the end of each day the completion sheets are sent across to the admin girl who work out what we have completed from a finacial point. now the actuall completion sheets are seen by a look of people who i do not want to be able to see the money side.

So on the tabs at the bottom i want one that says admin, but when you click that tab it doesnt open, i want it to open a password window before continuing. im not sure if ive explained this well enough so if not please ask anything else thats needed.

    Thanks in advance guys.

    Re: Locked Worksheet Tab

If a tab is visible you can select it. What you can do with it depends on whether or not it is protected, what criteria you have applied, which cells are locked and whether formulae are hidden.

You probably need a button on another tab which toggles the state between visible and *very* hidden and requiring a password to be entered. You'd also need to protect the VBA Project.

    Re: Locked Worksheet Tab

You can use VBA to prevent access to a sheet, but of course if macros are disabled then anyone would still be able to access it.
    Hope that helps.

is their no way of starting the sheet as very hidden, so that if macros were turned off you still would not beable to access the sheet.

    Re: Locked Worksheet Tab

There is. You have to use the BeforeSave event to make the sheets VeryHidden, and force the user to enable macros. See http://www.excelguru.ca/node/91

    Re: Locked Worksheet Tab

Have a look at the attached sample workbook and see if this meets your needs.

This example is coded and saved in Excel 2003 to ensure backward compatibility.
