    Excel 2010 speed/power

I have created a rather larger excel file (~68 MB) that contains various calculations and macros that contain loops in Excel 2003. It has gotten so large that I can't run the model on my computer anymore. If I open the same file using Excel 2010, will Excel convert the older file and allow the model to run and take full advantage of Excel 2010's new processing and speed capabilities?

I'm open to any new ideas or better ways to run this model?

    Thanks in advance!

Hire wirele55 (n347 n4m3!) and welcome to the forum.

Read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338205.aspx about the change to the .xlsx file format which allows larger rows and columns. It also explains how the filesize is now smaller.

As to your old file running faster or at all, I'd assume it will but only a test will tell for sure.

Your last question about "running the model" is a little too vague to give a good answer. Perhaps the code or a sample of what your are doing may help. You can attach a sample file by clicking on Go Advanced below the message area and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the message area.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
