Table Array functionality, 2007 vs 2010

    Hi,

I have a workbook with the little used

function. This has worked fine in both 2003 & 2007.
However when opening the workbook in Excel 2010 and changing other cells which I believe have no relevance to the cells containing the {=TABLE()}, i.e. they are neither precedent or dependent, then the workbook crashes and Excel closes.

Has anyone else experienced this or seen any comments about this behaviour? Not surprisingly googling seems to find little comment about this particular function.

    Usual TIA
    Richard Buttrey

    Hi Richard,

I've fooled myself a few times by having a Dynamic Named Range on a sheet and adding data that doesn't seem it should affect things but it does. The reason is I put the data in a row/column that expanded the range and/or table size.

Is it possible this is what is happening?

Do you have a UsedRange in the code?

Does removing the data table cure the problem? I'm not aware of there being a known issue with them, but will check. If it's reproducible it's probably worth filing as a bug.

    Thanks Marvin & romperstomper.

Actually I find after further investigation that removing just one LOOKUP() formula from the column which is addressed by the {=TABLE(A1)} function the problem disappears even though there are many other functions of the same type in other columns & rows. So clearly it's something to do with this particular one, but as usual with these things nothing is immediately obvious.

I'll see if I can replicate the problem in a small test workbook and then if so flag it with Microsoft. Do you know offhand a website or email address for this?

    Regards

If you can replicate it, you can post the workbook here and I will submit it on Connect.
