Using Personal.xlsx for Data Validation Lists

Can I use Personal.xlsx to store external Data Validation lists/tables? If so, how? I have tried to do so in order to have a global data set (database) but have not had success, hence, errors in the formula ref (#ref errors)

Maybe you could, but you'd need to create a named range in your workbook that refers to a range on a worksheet in Personal.xls. But why would you want to? It's certainly not portable.
