    Comparing and copying data

    Hello Experts!

First off, I am quite the novice at this so I appreciate the help! I am attaching a spreadsheet to show how I would like this to look and I will refer to it. (The Old and Updated tabs would be populated by me and the Current tab is blank until after the macro).

What I would like to do is take a unique value (The Account and Balance values) from the Updated tab and search the Old tab for it. Then based on the response if it is found or not, copy the row from the Old tab (If it is found) or the Updated tab (Not found) to the Current tab.

If I need to add a unique value field to the spreadsheet please let me know the best way to do that.

    Thank you!!

    Hi,

You don't necessarily need a macro since the Current tab is essentially the same as the Updated tab but with the values from Old if appropriate.

So just copy the Updated Sheet, (or copy and paste the data) to create the Current sheet. Then create a helper column F in Old. You could automate this with a macro if you prefer.

    Re: Comparing and copying data

    Hello,
    Thank you looking into this.

The parts that would make it a little more difficult are that the Current tab is the one I would be updating (Info column). Then periodically I would get a new spreadsheet, so I would replace the data in Old tab with the Current tab data, and replace the Updated with the new spreadsheet, and then continue working in the Current tab.

This way I would be always working on the newest spreadsheet with all the relevant information I previously entered.

I hope this helps to add to what I am looking for.
    Thank you!
