Re: Macro to Look up URL and Check for data on Page

    Hi,

I've just stummbled on this page from googling a similar question.

I have a spreadsheet of 1000's of products and would like to get updated prices from a competitors website

So for example I would have the following collumns

    A-MyPrice
    B-Competitors price
    C-Competitiors Url

Obviously B being the column I want updated, does anyone know of an easy way to do this?

    Thanks in advance

Please post an example (dummy) workbook and the name of the URL you want to compare with.

Re: Macro to Look up URL and Check for data on Page

Thanks for the very quick responses SNB

But when you look at the page http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-32BV.../dp/B004FPH81U you'll nitice the price is 259.99 which isnt showing anywhere from the data it pulled.

Once we have the right data being pulled how do we put it into D2 maybe additional prices in D3,4,5,6

Is it easy to add a button to refresh prices for all queries?

Oh and finally, I tried to look at your macro and I cant really understand how you are asking it to check the webpage, I dont see any reference to C7??? although there must be somewhere

    Thanks

Re: Macro to Look up URL and Check for data on Page

    I didn't use a macro.
    I used a webquery in C7.
I adapted the webquery (cfr. attachment).
Judging to your response: it's more a project than a question.
And yes it's rather complicated to accomplish what you want.
And if you have no experience in Excel or VBA I would call in an expert.

Re: Macro to Look up URL and Check for data on Page

Thanks I took a look at the web query you ran adjusted it so it pulls only what I want, however I think you are right I need an ever so slightly advanced macro to do what I want it to do, I think I'll have to do a little reading up on macros.

If anyone else can help i'll pop a tenner into a paypal account if they can get it working? If the forum rules allow...

    Cheers
