    Importing specific data from a .txt file to specifc cells in a worksheet?

    Updated: After putting in several vehicle registrations, I am running into a couple of issues, so I have re-opened this thread. See the bottom for details.

    I am creating an electronic tow log for our public safety agency. When a vehicle is towed, we run the vehicle plate and enter the following information into our tow log:

    E1 = Plate
    F1 = State
    G1 = Year
    H1 = Color
    I1 = Make
    L1 = VIN
    N1 = Last Name, First Name
    O1 = Address of Owner

    This information is presented to us in a proprietary program that cannot be imported from. However, we can copy and paste the information returned to us. Attached to this post is a "test" license plate I ran pasted into notepad. How you see the information in notepad is how we see the information in notepad.

    Does anyone see any way of making it so one only has to click on a button and import the data into the spreadsheet rather than having to manually type the information in (or copy and paste into each cell)?

    Attached is the spreadsheet log I am creating, and a test sample of a vehicle registration in notepad. In the example attached, the above cells would have the following information manually entered:

    E1 = TESTDOT1
    F1 = IA
    G1 = 2004
    H1 = BLK
    I1 = Ford
    L1 = 1FABP52S14A123456
    N1 = DAUGHTER, OF TEST
    O1 = 999 NO LIST ANY TOWN IA 55555

    Thank you very much to anyone who may have a suggestion on how to make excel import this data! Cheers!
