Interesting. Can you copy paste your code directly from the xml - not just the snippet, everything.
I've tried this several times and it hasn't worked. Must have some other error.

Are you using the CustomUI editor? If so, have you run a syntax check? (I'm on a Mac now so can't post the XML until tomorrow)

no..i find I only learn through handcoding. wordpad is my editor - at least that's all I have at work.

Got up early, new custom ribbon file, put in the code...it works.

Is this a variant on the rubber duck approach?
