format true and false in a cell

this should be so trivial but I will be @##$%^ if I can find it. I have cells that contain either true or false. Rather than have the cell display "TRUE" or "FALSE" I would like the cells to display "1' or "0". How do i format the cells to do this.

How is the True/False being entered into the cell...By way of a formula or manually?

If it's manual entry (or linked to a control) you will have to use Conditional Formatting to apply a custom number format.
