Formula to count how much is saved in postcode area

    hi
new to the forum but i have read through a lot of posts and can find one relating to my query

i have a spreadsheet with 5 pages (5 different products) to it that tracks the orders from customers and the savings made on each of these
i have the postcodes of the customers and i would like a formula to add the savings made in geographical regions i.e. south west, midlands, london etc
now ive used formulas that i got of here to be able to count the frequency of the postcodes
which is useful but i really need a formula that will take all the customers with london postcodes and add all the savings (across the 5 products) made in that region to give one total figure each month
output of the formula can be just a cell with figure then put into graph for visual presentation
i attach a copy of my sheet with some basic made up data in it
and the formula used to count frequency of "ab** ***" postcode
    can anyone help please

    Hi,

    Sorry, bit rushed.

Use this, but you can use it 5 times, once for each sheet. Someone may have a better way to combine all sheets, but this will work if you put it in 5 times.

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(LEFT('var 1 - Table 1'!$C$3:$C$200,2)=B3),'var 1 - Table 1'!$F$3:$F$200)
    (Meant for cell E3)
    S

    brilliant
thank you very much it works well

like you say tho not over all sheets have to do 5 of those codes with changes to sheet numbers and then when i move to another postcode change the cell number aswell

im happy with that for now as it gets me some way to the results i need

i forgot to say earlier that im also having some trouble with the postcode count not recognising the postcodes that have just one letter i.e b23 5rw any idea on that?

thanks very much tho been staring at that sheet for hours!

ive attached the new one with your formula now populated with 2 postcodes and the savings in each just incase anyone wants to add anything
