    Data Validation not working with Copy and Paste

    I have set up DATA VALIDATION for cells that allow an entry if a related cell is a number "ISNUMBER". This works well, but as soon as someone "Copy and Paste a value,then the warning does not come up and the value is accepted in the cell.
    Is there a way to still allow the Copy and Paste, and get a validation warning?

    How have you set up the validation?

    Did you use the Number option or have you used the custom option with a formula?

    No. Data Validation in the target cell is over-written when source cells are copied and pasted in. This is one of the faults of DV.

    I have used the Custom option. =ISNUMBER(....)
