    anomaly in COUNTBLANK funciton

    I have entered 1 to 15 in E1 to E15
    in G1 I typed a formula
    =IF(E1<3,"",E1)

    copied G1 down upto G15

    G1 and G2 are blank . ok

when I type in an empty cell in column G or any other column
    =COUNTBLANK(G1:G15)

    I get an answer 6

mine is excel 2002 and windows XP.

where did I do the mistake ???????

    I also get answer 2...

    You could upload example file...

Also, maybe you could use countif in E column directly : =COUNTIF(E1:E15,"<"&3)
Never use Merged Cells in Excel
