Hi, is there a particular reason you need a macro?

The reason is to provide someone who's unfamiliar with pivot tables, the ability to generate a report using them

    Thanks

    Steve,
as Pivot Tables are a built-in function, maybe you could create the first Pivot Table, using a dynamic range for data, and add a button to refresh the PT after some data is added. ( this button already exists in XL)

The person would then only have to add data and click the button
