Macro - Sum and merge based on change in value

[XL2008]

Attached is an example of my data. On Sheet1 I have the data I'd be starting with. What I want a macro to do is sum the data from the "quantity" column based on each change in state and then merge and center that value across that cell range.

The result that I want to see is on Sheet2.

I have very little experience with macros unfortunately and to me making this macro is complicated and I'm trying to learn bits and pieces by example, but I haven't been able to find an example that does what I'm looking for.
