    Lookups and formulas

    Hi,

I have a spredsheet called "Hist". Here are dates in column A and values in column B.
I am trying to create some lookupformulas and combine them with other formulas.

In the sample sheet attatched I have indicated the three calculations a am trying to do.

    In sheet "Use".
    1. I am trying to lookup the values in the daterange given in cell B2 and C2, and find the highest amount.
    2. Trying to calcluate the sum of the amounts in the range.
    3. Trying to find the average amount in the range.

    Hope someone can assist me

    Gnoke!

    Re: Lookups and formulas

    hello gnoke
In B2 the date is 2-1-2010, this is in the table on Hist but the date in C2 is not, is there meant to be more to it?
    Regards
    Peter

    Re: Lookups and formulas

    Thanks for the heads up
I should have been 1/10/2010, it is now corrected in the sample...

    Re: Lookups and formulas

Hi and thank you so much for your effort

However, I get the following error when opening (running excel 2003); "One or more formulas can not be opened in this version of Microsoft Excel"...

If you could, I would really appreciate if you would guide in modifying the formulas

    Re: Lookups and formulas

    Thanks again!

I see you have change the end date from 1/10/2010 to 10/20/2010. I assume that is why for example the sum of the period runs from 1/2/2010 and to the end of the data sample?
I have tried to modify the code in order to sum the of values beetween the given dates, with no luck...

Sorry, but I am not much of a formula-expert...
