unprotect - macros - shared workbook

    Hi guys

I have a protected workbook with a macros which filters all worksheets in order to report onto a summary (eg just show MALES)

    This works great.

Ideally I want multiple users to be able to use the spreadsheet at the same time on the network. I have shared the spreadsheet, but then when you hit the macro button I get an error saying you cant do this on a protected sheet.

It only does this on the shared version. The stand alone version works perfectly.

Is the solution to unprotect, run the macro and then reprotect?

    Thanks

Re: unprotect - macros - shared workbook

There is a list of limitations on shared workbooks at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...005201080.aspx.

You can run macros on shared workbooks, subject to the same limitations. For things that are allowed, you would, in general, need to unprotect the sheet.

Is there any other way of protecting only a small number of cells (with formula in) on a shared spreadsheet?
