Cell Value Changes with Mouse Click

Hello. I apologize if a question like this has already been answered. I haven't been able to find one.

I have a long list of values (over 1000). I would like the user to be able to click on a value in the list and have that value populate a cell above the list. In other words, if the list is A2:A1000, and the user clicks on A10, the value in A10 should be copied to A1. This should be repeatable -- the value in A1 should change with each click.

I have other data on the page, so I'd like to limit the click-behavior to the list.

Any ideas?
