Conditional Formatting - search for unique value in different Row

I need the following to happen:

User enters a name into cell R5.
    Conditional formatting searches AV1:AV2000

If name entered into cell R5 does not match any names in AV:AV2000, highlight Red.

If possible, would like solution to be possible within 2003 as some users may still have older version.

Re: Conditional Formatting - search for unique value in different Row

Select R5, then go to Formulas tab |Conditional Formatting |New Rule

Choose: use a formula to determine which cells to format

    Enter formula: =ISNA(MATCH(R5,AV1:AV2000,0))

Click Format and choose from Pattern tab

This should work in 2003 also.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
