    By name box I mean the little box near the Formosa box just to the left of that it's where you can name a range of cells or rows I.e stock so it can be used for a drop down box

    I don't see how you can use the name Box for anything but creating or listing names in the sheet or workbook.You can add or edit names:

    Insert menu->Name->Define

    Hi palmer19;

    I believe you are talking about dynamic range names.
    When you create a Dynamic Range name, the name refers to a range that can change size without having to reDefine the range name. Then your listbox will automatically add the names that you add to the list.
    Check out this site http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/DynamicRanges.htm
    Here a workbook that illustrates it ListBox Example.xls
    Keep in mind that Dynamic Range names will not be included in the Name Box or in GoTo (F5). You have to type them in in order to select them.
