    Hi kavin,

Seeing as no one has responded yet, let me be the first to inquire... What are the difference between the two files? Its not clear how you converted one file to the other. As a starting point can you do this in Excel, and if so have you tried to use the vba recorder to make your initial macro?

    Good luck

    Thanks abousetta for reply
I have basic knowledge of excel and vba is greek to me
The files contain stock market quotes
I export file NIFTY-I from my stock market software
and import it in another software for analysis
The format to import in another software is NIFTY as pics given above and also files attached above.
The import format is txt. file
Now I need to convert this NIFTY-I file to NIFTY ,how can it be done in excel or vba ?
The data fields and date format should match otherwise it can't be imported
Please guide me how to do it
    regards

Re: Format txt. file with macro

    Hi again,

What is not clear is how the data is manipulated from the first text file to the second text file. For example, the first file seems to be comma-deliniated while the delinated by semicolons. Also it seems that I can guess how the first couple of columns are converted but then I completely lose the pattern. Without knowing the pattern there is not much anyone can do to help. So you might want to think about how do you get from NIFTY-I to NIFTY and explain it to us. You know your data better than anyone else.

    Good luck
