Unhappy create a document from excel true false declarations

I'm lost, I've been searching for some time on internet, but I can't find and good way to do the following:

The result should be a specification document based on excel values.
One part can be done with mail merge; the "dear sir...", address and so on.

the other part, the body text, should be generated on checkboxes that are ticked. The default texts are separate documents on a default location. And must be combined into one body text depending on the true/false of the checkboxes in excel.

And that's where I am lost.

Does anyone have an idea how to move into the right direction?

    Many thanks,

    Gerbo

    Hi Don,

Thank you for this link. It is partly what I am looking for.
Is it possible to create these fields in Excel and then generate a doxument from there?
To avoid needing to maintain also a main word doc.

    Thx,

    Gerbo

I looked into the sort of thing you are talking about a while ago for sending out dynamic service level agreements to all our clients but was pulled off the project so never got a chance to really try out the methods for doing it. I was recommended by Macropod (MS Word MVP) over at MrExcel that this was about the best way to go about it.

Using solely Excel would lose the benefits of Word's document formatting and layout ability. As pretty much everyone who has Excel will also have Word it seems like a good option.

I'm not saying you couldn't do it Excel copying sections based on a table to a master worksheet. I could pop together some example code if you like.

For these purposes Word is better equipped. No need to use Excel in these cases. All optional texts can be put together in 1 Worddocument and be selected ad libitum. That is performing much faster than with seperate documents. Besides, Word has facilities like autotextentries and documentvariables that can contain unlimited amounts of formatted and unformatted text(fragments).

Soory for the late reply, I've been on the road for a few days.
After looking into some options I decided to export the values from Excel calulation sheet to Access and build futher from there.

I would like to thank you all for your help.
