    Convert Text to Date

I have a report, which I download on a daily basis, however, the date in column A is in a text format and shows the date in the format 20100427.

Is there anyway that I can convert this date so it shows as a date and in format DD-MMM-YYYY so today would be 27-Apr-2010

    Re: Convert Text to Date

You can convert the data using Text to columns functionality

Select column A > Data > text to columns > Next > Next > under "column data format" select "date" and YMD > Finish

If you want to convert with a formula in another column try this in B2

    =TEXT(A2,"0000-00-00")+0

and format B2 in required date format
