I have been having trouble with trying to fill a cell when another has a selection
lets say i have a pull down that reads yes
when that cell say yes i want a value to read 99
when the cell reads no 155.
can someone please point me in the right direction
To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.
Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

If the drop down cell were B2, then this formula...adjust for your actual layout:
=IF(B2="yes", 99, IF(B2="no", 155, "")
