    color formatting or segregating data

    Hi,
    I have a workbook with 2 sheets.
Sheet 1- A to I columns. I-coresponds to multiple values of gene ids separated by comma.
sheet2-A to D where A-coresponds to gene ids
    D- up or down regulated
1)So I need an indication by either color for each of the multiple values like if it is up-green color or down-red colour.
    or
2)Adding two more columns added in sheet1 indicating the up or down regulated
    like eg
column I(gene ids)------ UP ---- DOWN
    214,815,700,412 ----- 214,700 ----- 815,412

can anyone help me on this? is any of these way possible? and how?
    Thanks in advance

Re: color formating or segregating data

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

conditional formatting gives the ability to change the colour based on a value or formula
