    Combo Box Dependencies and Population

    Hello,

I am new to this site and have perhaps a amateur question about combo boxes. What I am trying to do is make two types of combo boxes. The first combo box is independent and depending on what is selected, the dependent combo box generates a unique list based on the what choice was selected in the independent combo box.

To help, I have attached a pretty clear example of what I'm trying to do here.

    Thanks in advance!

Look here for dependent Data validation:

I would switch to in-cell Dependent Data Validation lists with named ranges, as shown here.

Ah perfect. That works just fine. As a follow up question about format and aesthetics, is there a way to make the cell look more like an actual combo box aside from adding the border. Specifically, is there a way to make the arrow visible?

Once again, thanks for the prompt reply.

No, Data Validation lists have the benefit of being simpler than ComboBoxes, but they have none of the aesthetics.

If that takes care of your need, please click EDIT in your original post, click GO ADVANCED and set the PREFIX box to SOLVED.
