Create a "Created" Date in Footer

I have my personal.xls set up to create the following fields in the right-hand footer of any spreadsheet I create:

    Created Date
    Last Printed Date

The "Last Printed" is easy, as I just have the current date populating that one, and so Excel keeps up with it.

The "Created" date has to be manually input whenever I create the spreadsheet.

I'd like to be able to do two things:
    1) Have Excel fill in the "Created" date on the first day the worksheet is created, with that day's date, and thereafter not to change it again (unless I want to manually change it).

    2) Once I have that piece, find a way to export my Personal.xls to everyone else in my company who's going to be creating spreadsheets (Is it as simple as copying my Personal.xls and telling them to overwrite their own with it?)

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Leith,

Thanks for coming through again. I fooled with it a little and it didn't work (all I got was the messagebox. Nothing was posted in the footer. I've posted my attempt at the end of this letter.) I'll try to work with it later this morning.

Question: Can the "MsgBox" line be struck out? I'd like the process to be transparent to the users.

    Also, shouldn't the line

    to put in today's date?

Also, if there's already something in the footer, will the

    overwrite what's already there?

Here's the code the way I tried to use it (once with MsgBox, once without)

I've attached a sample of my worksheets based on my personal.xls. I put a "1" in one cell so you can do Print Preview and see the way I set it up now.

BTW, great example of coincidence. I subscribe to "Excel Tips", and this is the tip they sent me today: http://excel.tips.net/Pages/T002367_...1dJ6Sd9G9cQF4X
