I need to count how many times a name is entered in a specific range in multiple books.
Example: JOE JOE was entered in B:B only 1 time in each of 25 wookbooks I would need to see 25.( his combined entries within multiple books sheets)
I use the countif funtion in a single book but cant seem to make bring these to a summary book

You'd need several Countif() formulas, one in each sheet, and then sum them all up in a summary sheet. Then, in the summary book, add up the values in the summary sheets of the other books.
Countif does not work across several sheets. You could use Countif.3d, which is a special function available with the morefunc.xll, available for download here: http://download.cnet.com/Morefunc/30...-10423159.html
