Extract and Manipulate Data from Website

    HI everyone,

My first post here, and I thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Background: I run a Karate club and I would like to create a catalogue of training equipment etc available for my students.

Problem: My supplier does not have an electronic price list available, only a website which requires me to log in to access my wholesale prices.

    http://www.smai.com.au/karate/index....=karate&page=0

(Sorry can't divulge the username or password as it was a condition of registration with supplier)

Some products have various Sizes associated with them such as Gloves, shin guards and clothing, whilst others do not. This means that there is no consistancy in the data fields.

Desired Result: I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew, but If I don't try I'll never find out if its possible.

I'd like to be able to extract all the information from the Karate section into a spreadsheet allowing me to calculate my retail price. Columns for description, product code, size, colour and cost price are required. Pictures would be nice but not critical to end result

As an ex COBAL and ADABAS/Natural programmer, the underlining basics of programming isn't foriegn to me, it's just that VBA is.

    Am I being too ambitious??

    Thanks
    Barry

Hello Barry and welcome to the forum.

Almost impossible to say without seeing the data. Does the site not allow you to download the data as a file, and if not can you not copy/paste it into an Excel workbook?

    Hi Richard,

I've attached the spreadsheet created by Extracting data from Web. The Copy n Paste workbook is too large to attach as it exceeds the 1Mb limit due to it including the pictures.

You'll see that the information is in one column, whereas I need it in multiple columns. Cut n Paste creates the same singular column of data.

SMAI do not have the data in any downloadable format of any type.

    thanks

    Hi Barry,

The file you attached contains information across 3 columns so I'm not sure what you mean by information being in 1 column. Can you clarify?

    Regards
