nope, it's still the same error - I just tried it in a different book to make sure it wasn't something in my current file preventing it from working

OK, in VBE go to Tools->Options
On Tab "General" find Error Trapping (on the right side of the form)
See which option is selected. May be you have selected Break On All Errors.
Select Break oh Unhadled Errors.
