    Display Alerts

If one user is using Excel Worksheet, and another one whant's to use it too, the second user receives the message that the file is read only because someone else is using it.

Is it possible that this message doesn't appear?

    I've tried with Application.DisplayAlerts = False in WorkBook_Open but it's not functioning.

Not that I know of. Why don't you want people to know they will be opening it read-only?
Everyone who confuses correlation and causation ends up dead.

    Re: Display Alerts

Are you trying to change this with VBA? If so you must stop the sharing the workbook before editing code in it.
Idon't think that code will stop the message though
    Hope that helps.

    Re: Display Alerts

You can stop the message by sharing the workbook, but I wouldn't tell him that as Shared Workbooks are a disaster waiting to happen.
I'd just tell him it's a feature that is there by design and cannot be turned off.

What does it mean to "share the workbook"? And why disaster?

    Re: Display Alerts

Sharing the workbook allows multiple people to access and edit it at the same time. It's a disaster because it's a badly implemented feature that leads to corruption and weird behaviour more often than not. I strongly recommend you not to use it, but if you do, make sure you have regular backups of the file as you will need them.
