Excel Camera Function – Refresh only on demand, not constantly

Not sure if this is a macro question or a general question. I have an excel file that has 15 sheets that use the camera feature from 15 other sheets. The problem is that the camera sheets are updating constantly and hogging up my memory. Someone told me there might be a way to shut off the “update” of the camera until I prompt it to, via macro or sheet select. Can anyone tell me how this might be done?

As far as I know the refresh is not controlable.

If the original content of the linked images does not change constantly you might be better off creating static images via code.

That is the problem, it does change constantly, we are adding and deleting rows all the time. That is what we liked about the camera feature as it allowed for this. Thanks for your consideration.

Assuming you are imaging fixed ranges on each sheet, I'd still use Andy's principle. Have the activate event of each sheet set the formula for the picture and the Deactivate event remove it. You can then have an additional pair of routines to turn them all on or off as required (before printing for example).
