    auto construct template?

Not sure what the catch phrase is for this problem...

Basically....I want to be able to do something like this:

    1. Create a worksheet template
    2. Save that worksheet as an object that is available to my code for later use
(the template worksheet should not be visible or available to the user)
    3. Be able to use code to create a copy of that template that can be used by the code during excecution of the program.

Kind of like keeping a template in your pocket so to speak.

Anyway, a point of the right direction or an actual method would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: auto construct template?

    There's some notes here
    http://excel-it.com/excel_templates.htm
The example Summary workbook shows how to have a hidden "template" sheet in the workbook & using code create a new sheet from the template

    http://excel-it.com/workbook_downloads.htm
    Hope that helps.

Well, I tried to go and get that summary example that was to teach a way to use hidden templates, but it looks like the link is bad. I get this inventory type spreadsheet called Forcaster.zip. Do you have any comparable sources. It sounded like it was on topic.

    Re: auto construct template?

So just a point to see if the more knowledgeable agree... From what I have been reading it appears that the way to have this template that I can create when needed via code is to use an add-in which allows for a hidden sheet that the user cannot access, but nevertheless can be accessed and copied by the code. Does this seem right?

    Smile Re: auto construct template?

Thanks....got it now. This looks easier than the add in route, although after doing the reading I am intrigued.

    I appreciate the help.
