Matching 2 sheets with a macro

If I have a list (in sheet 1) of names listed in column "a" and numbers listed in column "b" and the same thing (on sheet 2) and I want to run a macro that takes the data from (sheets 1 and 2) and lists the matching names in column "a" (in sheet 3) and the number associated with the name (in sheet 1) in column b and the number from (sheet 2) in column c

    How would I do this?

I hope this question is understandable. I struggled just trying to write the question so any help with how to do this would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Sincerely, Nick

Re: Matching 2 sheets with a macro

    Hello Nickyd,

This macro uses Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3. The lists are on Sheet1 and Sheet1. Both lists start at "A1". The lists don't need to be sorted nor the same length for the macro to work. The matches are copied to Sheet3 starting at cell "A1". Sheet3 is cleared each time the macro is run.

    Adding the Macro
    1. Copy the macro above pressing the keys CTRL+C
    2. Open your workbook
    3. Press the keys ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. Press the keys ALT+I to activate the Insert menu
    5. Press M to insert a Standard Module
    6. Paste the code by pressing the keys CTRL+V
    7. Make any custom changes to the macro if needed at this time.
    8. Save the Macro by pressing the keys CTRL+S
    9. Press the keys ALT+Q to exit the Editor, and return to Excel.

    To Run the Macro...
To run the macro from Excel, open the workbook, and press ALT+F8 to display the Run Macro Dialog. Double Click the macro's name to Run it.

    Leith,

First, I can't believe you even figured out what I was asking for let alone provide me the completed code...but obviously you did and it works like a charm. Wow, looking at the code I would have never figured out how to do it.

I will use this macro very often.

    THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!

    Sincerely, Nick
