Don't update links on workbook open

I have a workbook that has many cells that link to a server on the other side of the planet. If I manually open this workbook I get the "This workbook contains links to other data sources." And the option to "Update" or "Don't Update"

If I choose to not update, everything works great. If I choose to update, the worksheet takes 10-15 minutes to open. I have tried to go to tools-->options-->Edit and uncheck "ask to update automatic links" but this makes the default behavior updating.

I want to open this workbook using a scheduled task and a batch file, and have it not update, and then run a macro. Any suggestions on how to do this?

P.S. I searched for "don't update" and had zero results. My apologies if this is a common question.

Re: Don't update links on workbook open

Thanks for the suggestion, and apologies for taking so long to get back to this. I've been away from the machine this workbook is stored on for most of the week.

I just tried the suggestion, but it seems that the update dialog comes up before the open workbook event triggers. Immediately after I open the workbook, I get the dialog box, and if I click Don't Update, then the macro triggers (I only know this because I made a typo in the file name and I got a code break). Any other suggestions?

The code doesn't go in the workbook open event; it's the code in some other workbook that's opening the workbook of interest.

If you want to set the attribute in the workbook, do Edit > Links, and check Don't ask and don't update
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

    Gotcha, that makes sense.

Even better. I had seen this once before, but had forgotten it existed...and apparently my google-fu is very weak. Thanks much for the help.
