    format part of a formula

    Hi all,
I'm brand new on this forum and I would like to know how good you guys are
I've a very (for me) difficult issue...
I want to give a part of (the result of) a formula a different color based on that part.
Let me explain with a sample
in A1, I have a number that changes depending on other cells( for instance 2).
in A2 I have this formula:=CONCATENATE("the total amount is ",A1)
the result is: the total amount is 2

    now....
How can I set the value in red when it is bigger than 5??
not the complete cell but a part of it
    it should look like this:
    the total amount is 6

    good luck..
your new best friend (if someone can solve it )

If you want to keep the formula, you can't do what you want. You would have to use code to write a formatted value to the cell (which I think is where Donkey is going)
Everyone who confuses correlation and causation ends up dead.

Indeed... too busy watching the cricket, sorry!

But as romperstomper says you're obviously dispensing with the Formula... ie using a change event such that when A1 is altered B1 updates with the string of interest - partially formatted as appropriate.
