vlookup - pulling numbers from 2 sheets

=VLOOKUP(B3,SalarySchedule,2,FALSE)*0.06

I am using this formula to lookup a cell on a spreadsheet and take that
value x 6%.

But I am looking for a formula that
If the vlookup returns a number larger A5 ($500) I want it to use A5 instead.

There are two options that you can use

Option 1

=if(VLOOKUP(B3,SalarySchedule,2,FALSE)>$A$5,$A$5,VLOOKUP(B3,SalarySchedule,2,FALSE)) *0.06 

Option 2:

=MIN($A$5,VLOOKUP(B3,SalarySchedule,2,FALSE))*0.06

Sheet 1:

Sorry but it is hard to explain but I am using two sheets and I am pulling the figures from the first sheet.
The formula is very close though.

Try:
at cell D2 enter formula:

=MIN(Sheet1!$A$5,VLOOKUP(B2,Sheet1!$A$2:$B$6,2,FALSE))*0.06
