converting date and time to EDT/EST TimeZone

    hi,

Can anyone help me how to make a macro or formula on how to convert date and time into EDT/EST time zone format? User enter's date and time in any timezone format then the output will always be in EDT/EST format...like if user enters: 05/13/2000 05:00:00 -700 or 05/13/2000 05:00:00 AM PST then the output would be :
EDT format is: 05/13/2000 02:00:00 AM EDT
EST format is: 05/13/2000 01:00:00 AM EST

    Regards,

Re: converting date and time to EDT/EST TimeZone

    hi martin,

basically there will be 2 conversion output, that is EST and EDT time. User needs to only input the date and time format which is like the example i have above and then simply output the converted time format which is on EST and EDt once a button is click...Sorry I forgot to indicate on my sample worksheet that there should be a CONVERT NOW button.

    Thanks,

    Stoey

Re: converting date and time to EDT/EST TimeZone

i think rather than being too clever you should adopt a drop down method
first cell could be user entered date second could be a drop down where they choose time in hours froom 00:00 to 23:00 third cell could be another drop down where they choose zone or +/- time.
then with a bit of formula crunching it could pick the right conversion from a table.
