Hi,
I am trying to solve an issue that I have been having and determine the cause of it do that I can fix it once and for all.
I have a Master workbook that is designed to retrieve data from 7 individual workbooks and then, through a series of macros, compile it for reporting purposes. The retrieval is done through an ODBC connection string to the other Excel workbooks. I currently have the 7 individual workbooks importing in to a corresponding worksheet in the Master then run a macro to compile them into one master list. The issue I am having is that when the Master workbook is opened and the update run, certain of the individual workbooks are being imported in with their own named range, when the macro is run to compile them it copies the data query over to the master list. Since the data varies week to week, everything is set up with offset ranges.
I have solved this once by recreating the individual workbooks from scratch to ensure that any excess formatting was removed and did the same with the corresponding worksheet in the Master workbook. Problem is, that it has happened again. I would prefer to find the root cause and correct it rather than have to continue to recreate the entire structure every time this happens.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
