    Question Randomize Order of Text

I have 35 items in a list from A1:A35. All I need is to hit the F9 key and generate these items into a randomized list. Every few months, I will need it re-randomized. I use RandLotto for numbers, but cannot find anything anywhere that will work for text! I have Excel 2007. Any ideas??

    re: Randomize Order of Text

You want 35 lines of text in random order, or 35 lines of random text?

    An example, perhaps ...

EDIT: If you just want to randomize the order, in an adjacent column, enter =RAND(), and sort by that when so moved.

    re: Randomize Order of Text

I need 35 lines of text in random order. Every week we have to test different equipment. According to our protocol, the equipment we test each week must be chosen at random and crossed off the list after we test each thing. That way, we are certain that every piece of equipment gets tested before repeating. So, A1:A35 has 35 pieces of equipment listed. I just need the order of the equipment jumbled up randomly. I hope this makes sense.

I tried that, but the random numbers generated in the adjacent column do not sort properly for some reason. I sort lowest to highest, but it doesn't do it.

Ha. I see why. I have the spreadsheet set up to randomize automatically so when I sort, it re-randomizes. I'll give that another shot and choose to have it calculate manually.

Right, but you can ignore the numbers until you sort again.
