How to stop sheet constantly recalculating (could be due to userform)

    Hi guys

I have an issue with a large spreadsheet (for footy tipping) and can't solve for it. It was working fine before yesterday, but now it causes my pc to hang as Excel takes 100% of CPU usage.

The problem is most apparent when I open a userform, so I was wondering what could cause the constant recalculation? I know this is happening because I have a cell that generates a random number and I can watch it changing each time the userform is opened.

If anyone can offer a suggestion, it would be much appreciated.

The file is too large to update here and I don't know whether it's the code or functions causing the problem.

    Thanks

Unhappy Re: I really need some userform help ... how to stop sheet constantly recalculating

I did some testing on a basic userform and changed the Controlsource from

    =RepHomeScore to
    RepHomeScore

This seemed to have stopped the problem on that userform.

Is there any significance of having or removing the equals sign when linking to a cell/range in the spreadsheet? Could it be causing the sheet to be constantly updating?

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
    Hope that helps.

RAND and RANDBETWEEN are volatile, meaning they recalculate each time anything changes on the sheet. You might try deleting that and see if it improves things.
